At Dreamers Pups, our breeding philosophy is rooted in love, integrity, and the inspiration that every dog has something invaluable to offer.
Personally, we don’t discriminate against any particular style or variety within the Chihuahua breed. Whether it's the refined applehead or the distinctive and often overlooked deerhead, we embrace the full spectrum of Chihuahua features into our program.
Our breeding family is a representation of the diversity that has evolved in the Chihuahua breed, revealing that beauty lies in the uniqueness of each pup.
We have intentionally built our breeding family with these inclusive principles in mind. Our goal is not to conform to fleeting standards or the rigid expectations set by kennel clubs — especially when those standards are moving toward
phasing out traits that many families still deeply cherish. Instead, we focus on what matters most: emotional connection, personality, and lifelong companionship.
Many of the families who find us at DreamersPups.com come with hearts that are healing. Often, they’ve just said goodbye to a beloved pet who left an indelible mark on their lives, and a hole in their heart. The grief is real, and so is the longing — not just for another dog, but for the right dog. One that looks into their soul the way their old friend once did. One whose face, ears, or eyes might resemble the companion they lost. And one who can help stitch the broken pieces of their hearts back together.
This is where our distinguished philosophy shines. While many breeders follow trends or breed for show-ring approval, we choose to honor the families who are searching for something deeper — often something rare. Take the often shunned deerhead Chihuahuas, for instance. These beautiful dogs are increasingly difficult to find as their traits are bred out
bred out by those chasing conformity.
The reality is that most families that come to inquire about their next Chihuahua puppy is looking for one with a Deer head. A lot like one they may have had as a child, or spent the last decade and a half loving.
In this day in age, in the Chihuahua world, loving owners will face criticism and shame on social media, where so many people who just think they’re better or more highly educated will join the conversation to express disdain and say things like “that’s not a true Chihuahua” or “real Chihuahuas have appleheads”, or “Deerhead Chihuahuas are just poorly bred”, or “Deerhead Chihuahuas come from backyard breeders”.
All this negativity in my professional opinion comes from sometimes just pride and sometimes deeply rooted frustration with their investment, whether they paid a lot more than they could have buying an applehead, or investing in an apple headed breeding stock.
Obviously there’s a spectrum of reasons people have to be judgmental in every aspect of life, I’m sure this isn’t the only thing these folks are judgmental about. Needless to say… These are not the families we’re seeking to adopt.
But we’ve seen firsthand just how special these “Taco Bell Chihuahuas” are to the right families, especially when that family is yearning for a connection that feels familiar, comforting, and fulfilling.
Our litters reflect this intentional variety. From long coats to smooth coats, from creamy whites to chocolates, fawns, and even blues brindles and merles. Dreamers Pups offers a rich palette of colors and features. No two puppies are ever exactly alike, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Our advice to every family who visits us is simple but fundamental: look each puppy in the eyes. Is that the little soul you want to be looking into for their lifetime? Can those little Chihuahua eyes captivate you and make you smile and laugh for the next decade and a half?
